ٽشوءَ يا ماس/ عضوي جو عام طور تي رت جي رسد نه ملڻ سبب مردار ٿي وڃڻ. گينگرين چمڙيءَ جي ڪنھن ننڍڙي حصي يا ڪنھن ٽنگ يا ٻانھن جي وڏي حصي کي به متاثر ڪري سگهي ٿي. مردار ٿيندڙ ٽشوئن ۾ سور محسوس ڪري سگهجي ٿو جڏھن ته مردار ٿي وڃڻ کانپوءِ اھي سُن ٿي وڃن ٿا. متاثر ٽشو ڪاراٽجي وڃن ٿا. گينگرين جا ٻه قسم خشڪ (dry) ۽ تر (wet) ٿين ٿا: عام طور تي خشڪ گينگرين ۾ روڳ پيدا ٿي نٿو سگهي ۽ ٽشو ان سبب مري وڃن ٿا ڇاڪاڻ ته انھن کي رت جي رسد ملي نٿي سگهي. خشڪ گينگرين پکڙجي به نٿي. اھا آرٽِيريواسِڪليروسس (arteriosclerosis)، ڊائبِيٽيز ميلائيٽس (diabetes mellitus)، ٿرامبوسس (thrombosis)، فراسٽ بائيٽ (frost bite، ٿڌ جي چڪ) يا ڪنھن ايمبولزم (embolism) سبب پيدا ٿي سگهي ٿي. تَر گينگرين تڏھن پيدا ٿئي ٿي جڏھن خشڪ گينگرين يا ڪو زخم بئڪٽيريا سبب روڳجي پوي ٿو. گينگرين پکڙجي اڻ وڻندڙ بوءِ پيدا ڪري ٿي. اھو ھنڌ ڳاڙھو، سڄيل ۽ ان جي ڪاراٽيل ھنڌ تان پونءِ وھندي رھي ٿي. ان جو ھڪ شديد قسم جنھن کي گئس گينگرين (gas gangrene) سڏجي ھڪ بئڪٽيريا سبب ٿي مشڪون تباه ڪري بدبودار گئس پيدا ڪري ٿو.
