ھڪ اھڙو ڪيميائي مادو جيڪو ھڪ يا وڌيڪ عضون جو ڪم يا بيماري جي عمل ۾ تبديلي پيدا ڪري. جن ۾ اھي دوائون شامل ٿين ٿيون جيڪي ڊاڪٽر تجويز ڪري ٿو، دوائن جي دڪان تان ملي سگهن ٿيون ۽ اھي مادا (جھڙوڪ: الوڪوحل، تماڪ ۽ نشي پتي لاءِ استعمال ٿيندڙ دوائون) شامل ٿين ٿا جيڪي غيرطبي ڪمن لاءِ استعمال ٿين ٿا. عام طور تي دوائن جا ڪيميائي نالا، سرڪاري طور تي ڏنل ڪو جينرڪ نالو (ڏسو، generic drugs) ۽ عام طور تي برانڊ نالو ھجي ٿو. طبي طور تي استعمال ٿيندڙ دوائون لائيسنس ھيٺ ڊاڪٽر جي تجويز ھيٺ استعمال ڪجن ٿيون يا ڪنھن ڪيمسٽ کان خريد ڪري سگهجن ٿيون.
