جسم جو بلڪل ٻاھريون پوش يا ڍڪ جيڪو اندرين عضون کي ٻاھرين ماحول کان بچائي ٿو. چمڙيءَ جا ٻه تھه ٿين ٿا جن مان ٻاھريون اپيڊرمس (epidermis) ۽ اندريون ڊرمس (dermis) سڏجي ٿو. ٻاھريون اپيڊرمس مردار سيلن ۽ پروٽين ڪيريٽن (keratin) جو ٺھيل ٿئي ٿو. جڏھن مردار سيل ڳري لهي وڃن ٿا ته انھن جي جاءِ تي اندرين اپڊرمس مان نوان سيل پيدا ٿين ٿا. ڪي اپيڊرمس خاص پگمينٽ ميلانن (melanin) پيدا ڪن ٿا جيڪا جسم کي سج جي الٽراوايوليٽ (ultraviolet) روشنيءَ کان بچائي ٿي. ڊرمس ڪنيڪٽو ٽشوئن جا جڙيل ٿين ٿا جن ۾ ھيئر فولائيڪل (hair follicles)، پگهر جا غدود (sweat glands)، سيبيشس غدود (sebaceous glands)، رت ۽ لمف نليون (lymph vessels) ۽ دٻاءَ، گرمي سرديءَ ۽ سور محسوس ڪرڻ لاءِ حسي رسپٽر موجود ٿين ٿا.
