عام طور سياسي ماهرن وٽ کاٻي ڌرجو ذڪراشتراڪي نظريي جي حوالي سان اچي ٿو. پر حقيقت ۾ 1789ع واري فرانسيسي انقلاب کانپوءِ هن اصطلاح زور وٺڻ شروع ڪيو. فرانس جي اعليٰ اختياراتي اداري ”ايسٽيٽ جنرل“ (جنهن جي حيثيت پارليامينٽ جي برابر هئي) جي اجلاس ۾، رڪنن جي ويهڻ جو انتظام اهڙي طرح ڪيو ويو، جو بادشاهه جي حمايتين کي ساڄي هٿ ۽ مخالفن کي کاٻي هٿ تي ويهاريو. جنهن کان پوءِ اهو اصطلاح مشهور ٿيو. کاٻي هٿ تي ويٺل ميمبر انقلاب جا حمايتي ۽ ترقي پسند سوچ رکڻ وارا هئا ۽ ساڄي هٿ تي ويهڻ وارا بادشاهي راڄ واري روايتي سوچ جا حامي هئا. موجوده دور ۾ ان اصطلاح هيٺ، ڪا به ڌُر ڪنهن به سياسي نظام ۾ اهڙن حلقن جي نمائندگي ڪري ٿي، جيڪي سماجي تبديليءَ جي ذريعي وڌيڪ مُهذب ۽ انسان دوست سماجي ۽ سياسي سرشتي جي بحاليءَ تي زور ڏين ٿا. مُختلف فڪري نظرين ۽ روين جي تابع هُئڻ ڪري، ”کاٻي ڌر“ جا مُختلف قسم آهن. منجهائن ڪن کي بلڪل انتهاپسند، ڪي وچٿرا، ته ڪي وري مغربي جمهوري نظام جي بلڪل ابتڙ/ ويجهو آهن

- A conch which Hindus sound at certain ceremonies. The house of a Hindu left after burning. Adj. Miserly.

- A measuring rod for land. A piece left undug in the mouth of canal to keep out water till the excavation is completed, a dike. A fixed sum given for Brahmins and fakirs at Hindu marriages. Four in counting. A lump, mass, tumor.
- A natural mark or scar on the body, a spot left in an earthenware vessel from the kiln. A blotch.
- A pair of shears or scissors. Remnants of cloth left on cutting out anything.
- A pebble, a small lump left in anything pounded or ground. The gravel disease. A corn on the foot.
- A pen. A side lock left when rest of head is shaven, the side hair. A cutting or slip for planting.
- A pool or pond of water left on the subsiding of the flood in the bed of a canal or river. The sign Aquarius.
- A small hole left in the wall of a house to admit light and air, a loop hole, a window, a hole through any thing generally for ornament.
- A small kind of beetle. Boiled munga. What is left of the tail of a dumbo after unctuous matter has been extracted by cooking.
- A small leather vessel for ghee, oil etc. A playing card, a piece of stick used for leveling the top of a measure in measuring grain. Slips of wood put between the threads of the warp in a loom. An unclear spot left in canal clearing etc. To show depth of
