جڏھن ڪنھن دوا جو ان مقصد جي اٻتڙ استعمال ڪجي جنھن لاءِ عام طور تي تجويز ڪجي ٿي. جن دوائن جو عام طور تي غلط استعمال ڪجي ٿو انھن ۾ متحرڪ (stimulant) ڪندڙ جھڙوڪ: ڪوڪين (cocaine) ۽ امفيٽامائين (amphetamine drugs) دوائون، مرڪزي تنتي سرشتي کي دٻائيندڙ جھڙوڪ الڪوحل (alcohol) ۽ باربيچوريٽ (barbiturate)، ھيلوسينوجينڪ (hallucinogenic) جھڙيون ايل سي ڊي (LSD) ۽ نشيدار (ڏسو، opoid drugs). ڪيترين دوائن جو ان سبب غلط استعمال ڪجي ٿو ته جيئن راندين ۾ بھتر ڪارڪردگي ڏيکاري سگهجي (ڏسو، sports, drugs and; steroids, anabolic ).
