گهاٽائپ، ڪنھن به مادي جي ”نھرائپ“ (compactness) جنھن کي ماس پر يونٽ واليوم (mass per unit volume) ۾ بيان ڪجي ٿو. ريڊيالاجيءَ جي حوالي سان ان اصطلاح مان مراد شعاع جي ان مقدار جي ٿئي ٿي جيڪو ايڪسري مادو جذب ڪري ٿو. جيڪو ھڏو سٺيءَ طرح سان شعاع جذب ڪري ٿو اھو ايڪسري فلِم تي سفيد ڏسڻ ۾ اچي ٿو. ڦڦڙ جنھن ۾ گهڻي ڀاڱي رڳو ھوا ٿئي ٿي رڳو ٿورڙي مقدار ۾ شعاع جذب ڪري ٿو ۽ فلِم ۾ اونداھون نظر اچي ٿو. ساڳي ڳالهه سي ٽي اسڪيننگ (CT scanning) ۽ ايم آر آءِ (MRI) سان به ٿئي ٿي.
