رت جي تپاس ڪري ڏسڻ ته منجهس کاراڻ ـ کٽاڻ acidity-alkalinity/pH))، آڪسيجن، ڪاربان ڊاءِ آڪسائيڊ ۽ بائڪاربونيٽ ڪيتريءَ گهاٽائپ ۾ موجود آھي. تپاس ڪرڻ لاءِ رت جو نمونو ڪنھن شريان، عام طور تي ڪرائيءَ يا چڏي مان ڪڍيو وڃي ٿو. اھا تپاس رسِپائريٽري فيلوئر (respiratory failure) جي تشخيص ۽ نگراني ڪرڻ ۾ ڪارائتي ٿئي ٿي. بايوڪاربونيٽ ۽ ايسيڊٽيءَ مان جسم ۾ ايسڊ ـ بيس توازن ھجڻ جي ڄاڻ پوي ٿي جيڪي ڊائبيٽڪ ڪيٽوايسيڊوسِس (diabetic ketoacidosis)، ايسپرِن پوائزننگ (aspirin poisoning)، ھائپروينٽِيليشن (hyperventilation) يا ھر ھر ٿيندڙ الٽيءَ جي حالت ۾ ڊانواڊول ٿي سگهن ٿا. ان رستي، رت جي آڪسيجن جي به ماپ ڪري سگهجي ٿي جنھن لاءِ رت جي نموني ڪڍڻ ۽ آڪسيميٽر (oximeter) استعمال ڪرڻ جي ضرورت نٿي پوي.
